Scaffold Safety
Mobile Scaffolds
Mobile scaffold systems are widely used because of their convenience. Unfortunately this also allows for frequent misuse. The following precautions & safety provisions should always be followed:
- Scaffold casters and wheels shall be locked to prevent movement of the scaffold while the scaffold is used.
- Scaffolds shall be stabilized to prevent tipping during movement.
- Manual force used to move the scaffold shall be applied as close to the base as practicable, but not more than 5 feet above the supporting surface.
- Working platforms shall remain within the confines of the structure unless measures have been taken to ensure balance.
